Catherine Andrews

Research Technician

Catherine is a virologist who joined the VBD Ecology Lab as a research technician in October 2022, working on the Lab’s Rift Valley Fever virus project.

Before joining the lab, she previously completed her undergraduate degree in Medical Sciences at the University of Leeds (2016-2020) during which she undertook a year in industry at The Pirbright Institute as part of the African Swine Fever Virus Vaccinology group. She then completed an MSc at the University of Glasgow in Infection Biology with specialisation in Virology (2020-2021). Her past research has focused on host serological responses to viruses, including African Swine Fever virus and coronaviruses.

Within the VBD Ecology Lab, her role will focus on providing the molecular biology and serology support required throughout the Rift Valley Fever project.
